After a couple of months, I have finally put together a review for Avantasia’s latest album, “The Scarecrow”. I will give a mini-review of each of the eleven songs before talking about the album as a whole. Enjoy.
Twisted Mind
This song is a fantastic way to kick off the album. I love it. It makes me think of the old sixties rock that I have heard before, which I don’t really listen to. But this song, it’s better than all of that. It’s brilliant.

The Scarecrow
This may be the title song but it’s my least favourite on the entire album. I’m not saying it’s rubbish, it’s just not as good as the rest. It dragged on for a bit, which I personally didn’t enjoy.

Shelter From The Rain
I love this track. I get it in my head as soon as I’ve listened to it. However, I think it could have been a tiny bit shorter. That would give it 10. Or a 9.5. It’s still excellent, though.

Carry Me Over
This may not sound much like metal, but believe me, it brings a whole new world to it. The chorus resembles metal the most. It’s an amazing chorus. I just adore this song!

What Kind Of Love
The pace of this song makes it perfect to listen to if you’re feeling sad. It’s a nice change, but this song doesn’t do it well enough for me to rate it any higher than I have. That’s all I have to say about it.

Another Angel Down
I’m still not quite sure what the lyrics to this song mean. I want to know, which is slightly annoying. I do like this track though. The middle does get a bit tedious, but other than that, I like it.

The Toy Master
I prefer Tobias Sammet’s voice to Alice Cooper’s, who guest vocals this song along with Tobias. When I first heard this song, I didn’t enjoy it at all. But it really has grown on me. And I like that.

Devil In The Belfry
The title of this track, like Another Angel Down’s, made me uneasy about this song. But the lyrics are about cheating, not devil-worshipping as some people might think, which is a relief. I love everything about this song. And that is that.

Cry Just A Little
This song definitely grew on me. It’s one of the best songs I know that I can listen to when I’m both sad & happy. I love the beat, etc. Ah, the good songs.
- 10/10
I Don’t Believe In Your Love
I love almost everything about this song. I love the melody, the voices, and all of that. But I hate the swearing. Fair enough, they only say the f word a couple of times, but still. They could easily replace it with damn, like they did in one line. That took it down a rating.

Lost In Space
How can I put this? I LOVE this song! It’s perfectly placed on the album. You would expect the last song to be like this. It’s got a lighter edge to it, so if you listen to the album from start to finish, you will be happy at the end. It may have featured in the previous EP (which I don’t have), but I love it.
- 10/10
So, all in all, it got 101 points out of a possible 110. Not bad. The range of styles is fantastic. Well done Avantasia!
9/10
